Casa Sanchez is a Mexican restaurant my family frequently visits and they use the Business System, described in Chapter 1, pages 10- 26, to successfully run this business. The three components of this system are Business as Commerce, Business as an Occupation, and Business as an Organization (Jones, 2007). Business as Commerce is “the process through which people produce and then trade, barter, or exchange valuable goods to better fulfill their wants and needs (Jones, 2007).” It is with this component that Casa Sanchez produces food and then exchanges this service for monetary compensation. Business as an Occupation is “the acquired set of specialized skills and abilities that enable a person to create valuable goods and services that can be traded as a profit (Jones, 2007).” Casa Sanchez has good customer service, which keeps this business strong due to returning customers. They use highly skilled cooks and waitresses that will make the customer feel wanted and appreciated for returning time and time again. The specialized skills that Casa Sanchez uses to create valuable goods can be traded as a profit can be found in this business component. Business as an Organization is “a tool or instrument created to give people the power they need to shape and control the work behavior of other people (Jones, 2007).” The tool that Casa Sanchez uses to control the work behavior of its restaurants is through the control of the restaurant through the use of franchise licenses.
