Evaluation Communication Strategies
In the case that I working as a human service worker I would make sure that I knew all of the cultural backgrounds for my clients. I feel like it would make me able to communicate and understand what my client is coming from and how their background could make them feel and react the way that they do. To be effective in communicating with my clients I would have to know their body language, their beliefs, their situation, and background. The strategies and techniques I thing would work the best when communicating to my clients would be to make sure they understand what I am saying to them and not just knowing what I am saying. I would use eye contact and positive feedback in hope that they trust me and feel that I have their best interest in mind. I would also listen to what they have to say and then rephrase it, so that they know that I understand them. In some cases I might have to adapt my communication skills from one client to the next. One client might need constant reassurance and I would have to take on more of a parental role to ensure them that they are being taken care of. I could also have a client that refuses help and is not convinced that I can help them. I would have to be more persistent with them and explain to them that I could help and on some occasion use more of a forceful attitude with them. Communication is important and you have to know how to talk, use body language, and appearance to help you clients. Communication verbal or nonverbal is the only way to interact with other individuals and is necessary.
