"Gran Torino" is an American drama film directed by Clint Eastwood, and one of the most successful films in the world. It won the "Best Foreign Film", "Best Original Screenplay", "Best Actor" award at 2008 and so on. I believe a good film is made in many ways of aspect skill. At this time, I will be looking at four different aspects which are camera shot using, dialogue, main idea of the film, music editing in "Gran Torino" to shows what sort of skill involved is need in a film, why do we need them and what are the advances after using these skills? One of the key ideas in this film was "Human has the ability to change". We can content Walt (the main character) at the begging; the film start with Walt has just lost his wife. In the funeral, we know Walt alienated from his family because of his grumpy, easy to angry, can't get along with his kids grandson or his Asian neighbours, a Korean War veteran. His dog and Gran Torino are the only friends with him. When the first time he meets Thao, a close up shot show Walt's face and he says" Have some respect zipper head". When he saw the Asian people in next door, he said "How many swamp rats can you get in one room?" Maybe that was what gives him after he attends the Korean War. In a word; Walt is very hate Asian people. As Walt doesn't, but change slowly through the influence of people and events in their lives. Walt changes because he realizes he has more in common with his neighbours than his own family and becomes something of a hero when he prevents the gangbangers from forcing Thao join into their gang. He gradually takes Thao under his wing, teaching him about life and helps him to get a job. Walt become father figures to Thao, he is a general good man. When the gang shoots up Thao's house and attack his sister Sue.
