Importance Of Media Business in Democratic Country Like INDIA The newspaper business in India is gaining 10 percent per year but the fear is that the new generation of readers may grow up getting their news on tablet or computer. * For advertisers, newspapers are more time-efficient and effective than other media. Newspapers continue to reach more people than the internet does. * Internet penetration in India is less than 10 percent, but the country has 519 million mobile subscribers.

A Democratic Country
* When a government is elected by the people, for the people, it is called as being "democratic." * The term democracy has a Greek origin, "demos kratos” * Where "demos" meaning people and "kratos" meaning rule, which simply meant "rule of the people." * India is a very large democratic nation with huge population. the people of India enjoy freedom of speech and expression. * Although, we have such richness in governance, we still are lagging behind in awareness and literacy due to which our democracy is not being enjoyed optimally by the people

Media as Fourth Estate
* In its contemporary usage, the fourth estate refers to the mass media. * Edmund Burke, the great Anglo-Irish thinker and British parliamentarian, is credited with categorizing the field of journalism as constituting a fourth estate in 18th century British society. * Burke coined the term in 1787 at a time when the British press was rising to the challenge of providing more intense coverage of the deliberations of the House of Commons. * In Burke’s social architecture, the press occupied a monumental seat, no inferior to the first three Estates: the Lords Spiritual, the Lords Temporal, and the Commons. * In Britain’s tradition at the time, the two “lorded” groups constituted the upper chamber of parliament whilst the Commons was the lower chamber. * Similarly in India, media is termed as a fourth estate, other three estates are 1....
