Obesity among Children in America
Ever wonder how many calories are in a big Mac meal? Children are being threatened by obesity, due to the high rates of it. Many kids are spending less time exercising and more time in front of the TV, computer, or video-game console. The top three causes of obesity in American among children are: the numerous fast food restaurants, Family influence, and economic influence. It all closely relates.

I have noticed a variety of fast food places, within a short distance from each other. In fact in America we have 13,381 McDonalds. This gives an easy access to children, many within a walking distance from home. This makes McDonalds their number one food source. Consequently one out of four children is overweighed. This shows the obesity rate is extremely high. Today fast food places are the fattening source of children.

Children idolize their parents. The family of obese children is a huge influence on their eating behaviors. A survey showed that 71 percent of working moms are likely to work late. Children are incapable to cook a healthy meal. After work many mom opt for easy, fast, and fat foods, without know the harm it causes. We could blame parents for the bad habits children are learning. Preventing kids from becoming overweight means adapting the way your family eats and exercises, and how you spend time together.

Today’s economic situation is unsatisfactory for many. Families chose to eat cheaper. Fast food places make their prices look right; they cleverly add a couple of cents to “Supersize” a meal, or even to make it a meal. This seems to attract customers to buy big meals for their families. This once again shows why the obesity rate is so high. In order to save a couple dollars families forget about children health.
