When you think of a great leader you think of someone who will willingly stand up for their rights and the rights of others no matter the consequences. To me a great leader is someone who is kind, caring, and generous. Some people think being a great leader only takes bravery, but that’s not the case. Many people’s kindness makes them a great leader.

For instance Rosa Parks showed bravery and courage when she refused to leave her seat even though she knew she would be arrested and kicked off the bus. This shows that she was a great leader because she did what she thought was right. So many people believed the same as Rosa Parks, and this small act led to something greater called the bus boycott.

Rosa Parks wasn’t the only exceptional leader of the civil rights act. We have all learned about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was a great example of what I would consider a great leader. He fought to his death for equal rights. Before his death he had been obtained and arrested for rallying and protesting. Yet, there were so many people behind him.

So you see you don’t have to do something big and outrageous to be considered a great leader. There are a handful of great leaders that I could think of. Leaders such as Malcolm X, Thurgood Marshall, and so many others.

You never know who the next great leader will be. It could even be your neighbor. So remember, you don’t have to be brave to be a great leader, and keep in mind that all great leaders are not well known, but they are appreciated.
