1.2 Core Requisite
General Observation, Discipline & Adaptability
The objectives of this course are
a) To provide a knowledge on standards and laws pertaining to environment. b) To make the students understand the technologies for abatement of water and air pollution c) To give an exposure to the students about the pollution control techniques adopted in the process industries d) To make the students understand the steps involved in Environment Impact Assessment e) To provide an awareness about Sustainable Development and Life Cycle Analysis.
Unit-I: Introduction to Environment Engineering
Unit-II: Water pollution and water quality control
Unit-III: Air pollution
Unit-IV: Pollution control in process industries and pollution control methodologies Unit-V: Introduction to EIA, Need and scope of EIA
Unit-VI: Sustainable development
5.0 EVALUATION CRITERIA:
MID-TERM EXAMINATION 20%
FINAL-TERM EXAMINATION 50%
5.1. Internal Assessment Weightage

5.1.1 Class tests/quizzes
Two Class Tests based on descriptive type theoretical & numerical questions and one Quiz or surprise test will be held; one class test and one quiz/surprise test atleast ten days before the Mid Term Examination and second class test atleast ten days before the End Term Examination. Those who do not appear in Viva-Voce and quiz examinations shall lose their marks.
The marks obtained by the students will be displayed on LMS a week before the start of Mid Term and End Term Examinations respectively.
After completion of each unit or in the mid of the unit, there will be home assignments based on theory and numerical problems. Those who fail to submit the assignments by the due date shall lose their marks.
The marks obtained by the students will be displayed on LMS after each submission and subsequent evaluation.
Based on student’s regularity, punctuality, sincerity and behavior in the class.
The marks obtained by the students will be displayed on LMS at the end of semester.
5.2. Course requirements
Since the curriculum of the course requires analytical and strategic decision making process so the students have to go through the mix of class presentation, role play, quizzes etc. We would be using illustrations, case studies and questions, so as to apply the methods and techniques in business problems. Needless, to mention that student’s classroom participation will add value to their overall evaluation .
Internal Assessment Record Sheet (including Mid Term Examination marks) will be displayed on LMS at the end of semester i.e. last week of regular classroom teaching.
